Across previous editions of Sonic Tactics, listening has emerged as a recurring tactic for engaging bodies, memories, technologies, and forms of collective experience. For this edition, listening is understood as a sensitivity to be cultivated, a capacity for attending to what is perceptible — if not only audible — and what exceeds established forms of recognition. From listening, this year’s programme expands towards other forms of attentiveness, considering ways of sensing and responding to relations as they unfold.
Through Sonic Tactics, sudoraع offers a scaffold for artistic practices that mobilise tactics in which operations of selection, repetition, transition, interruption, feedback, and distortion reorganise materials, perceptions, and relations, allowing familiar forms to be reconfigured and encountered otherwise.
Over two days, the programme brings together music, film screenings, readings, performances, DJ and live sets, audiovisual performances and improvisations. Through Sonic Tactics we (re)visit the frictions through which histories become unstable, and turn to the ways artistic practices can complicate how knowledge is organised, transmitted, and shared.
