A growing sensory archive
On July 23, starting from 18:00, we invite you to a first public experiment of Memory Bar at Spedition. Join us for an evening of tasting, conversation, listening and shared reflection.
Memory Bar explores how seasonal and regional ingredients can become entry points to memory through taste and smell. We use different preservation techniques to archive seasonal, locally available ingredients which will be used in the drinks served.
Accompanied by a harvesting soundscape, this evening marks the beginning of a shared sensory archive: one cultivated as a commons and growing through seasons, ingredients, conversations and care. Along the way, we may remember—or imagine—moments connected to different climates, landscapes, and ways of living.
Drinks are sold on donation-basis to cover expenses.
The evening is organized by Hanna and Giulia as the first public experiment of an ongoing research project.
Hanna is an artist working with installation, moving image, found objects and sculpture. Her practice is mainly research-based and engages with the connection of urban space, social constructs and the human experience. She is interested in collective memories evoked by taste and smell.
Giulia is an environmental scientist and interdisciplinary researcher. She uses ecological thinking to investigate how relationships between landscapes, people, and everyday practices shape one another across space and time. She is interested in cultivating conditions where different forms of knowledge can emerge without extraction.
